Any tips on how I can get ds nearly 6m to take a bottle? Got a wkend away booked (hen do) for4 weeks time and I'm going to have to cancel if we have no success.

Have you tried a cup?

I realise this isn't what you're asking but a totally different approach may work

Flingingmelon · 26/03/2015 19:06

Try going out for an hour or so when a feed is due and leave a bottle with your other half. Without the smell of your milk around babies are often surprisingly amenable.

Good luck op Smile

Second the idea of getting someone else to give the bottle. I really struggle ff ds whereas my dh and dad have no issues. I would use your hour off for something nice too - a warm cup of tea, a haircut or just a walk without your baby Smile

Currently trying a sippy cup for water and not very successful.
Have tried mum or DH giving bottle but not tried it with me out the house. That's worth a try if I can convince DH!

Different teats, different temperatures (mine likes it warmer than most and refuses if it's not to the right temp Hmm), different positions - nursing position might not work, but dad facing him in a bouncy chair / car seat might? Good luck, I feel your pain!

We have tried medela, tommee tippee and avent. Any recommendations for others to try?

Afraid no advice but watching this thread with interest as we are facing the exact same problem with our six month old. I need to go back to work shortly, for just one day a week at first but will build to full time, and think DS will probably starve himself whilst I'm gone rather than take a bottle...

BikeRunSki · 27/03/2015 19:00

I knew a few bottle refuse-ers who accepted MAM teats.

stargirl1701 · 27/03/2015 19:13

We have only had success with a latex teat. NUK.

Bringon it's really hard isn't it!
What is annoying me is he took a bottle around Xmas time absolutely fine! Maybe I should have offered them more.

Second the MAM suggestion - DD refused Tommee Tippee, Dr Brown, Avent and another one I can't remember. With a MAM you could see her latch on straight away though she wouldn't drink as the milk wasn't warm enough Confused

SweetPeaPods · 28/03/2015 08:57

Just a generic mam teat or is it a specific one? Might have a mam bottle somewhere.

Just the age appropriate teat - MAM'a no 1 for newborns is probs fine Smile
