9.5 month old feeding to sleep

Hi,

DD is 9.5 months and is now on 3 meals a day with EBF. Not sure if this should be here or in Sleep. Every night I feed her to sleep which takes an hour, then once she is in a deep sleep move her into cot. She doesn't have a dummy and I don't enjoy BF or spending an hour of every evening in the darkened bedroom. Her cot is still in our room, which is partly laziness from me as she has always woken up in middle of the night at random times and just easier to take her into our bed and feed to sleep.

I know I'm doing so many things wrong and need some advice on how to stop this bad habit. Then I'm going to tackle weaning her too. A couple of months ago tried CIO for a few days but she was so miserable and with hindsight was teething at that point, that I gave up.

Can anyone help???

Thanks

Hi Winglet, when my DS was 9 months old I was in the exact horrific situation. Needing feeding to sleep and then waking lots in the night and only settling when I fed back to sleep. I was exhausted and life was pretty bleak.

In desperation I paid to have a Consultation with a Sleep Specialist and within three days of CC and putting DS in his own nursery he was sleeping through the night.

It's been about two months now since the training and I've only ever once breast fed him during the night but that was because he was poorly and wanted to comfort him.

We are having some teething issues at the moment so his sleep has been a little skewered the last 3-4 nights but in general, since the start of his training he is able to fall asleep on his own in his cot and sleeps 7pm-6am.

If you would like any further details then feel free to PM me Smile

Wow I'm impressed. My dd is 10.5 and I'm still getting up 2/3 times a night to feed. I just don't know how to break the habit.

To quote what was said to me: "The only way to break a habit is to stop allowing the habit to continue." Smile
