DS is 12 weeks old, that's 12 weeks of EBF, hurray!
And I couldn't be prouder of myself.
I really want to continue, and DS is getting on really well, but my GOD it hurts so much Sad It didn't used to, I distinctly remember thinking hey, it doesn't hurt anymore. But for the past...week?... it is agony. My nipples are pink and raw, so cracked and shiny.
Is this thrush or a latch problem? They don't itch, they don't hurt between feeds, no boob pain just nipple, no white patches in DS's mouth and he isn't bothered at all but it is excruciating for me and I can't see what has changed?

Sounds like thrush. DC don't always get white patches in their mouths. Would see GP and eliminate that first. Hope it gets better soon and well done on getting to 12 weeks!

Oh what a nightmare, do you think so? Sad What a PITA, I hate the doctors.
Thank you!

Sorry! This LLL page might help. You may be able to get a Breast feeding counsellor to confirm whether it's thrush or not and get something over the counter instead? Good luck!

That's so helpful, thank you. I did take antibiotics after very heavy bleeding 5 weeks PP, I don't know if that has contributed as it was quite a few weeks ago now.
Oh are there over the counter products that are safe for breast feeding thrush? I would prefer that as I could run to the ASDA pharmacy now rather than waiting for a docs appointment.

Not sure! Have a look at this old thread they are more knowledgeable than I am. (I went to Gp) Smile

Did you manage to get it cleared up quite easily? I hate the thought of it recurring! It's really ruining breast feeding for me Sad

It's a pain (literally!) but I think mine went quite quickly after treatment, (was about two years ago). A friend took ages to get rid of it though so prob worth seeing GP if you can bear to. Make sure you wash all your bras hotter than usual so you kill off the candida.
