Spitting out and refusing bottle... Help!

Hi all. Three week old DD has previously fed well. Has bad reflux issues but it hasn't ever affected her feedin before, she usually gulps down her bottles quite happily. The last three days she has suddenly started feeding and within a couple of minutes starts spitting the milk out, pushing the teat out and screaming blue murder! She easily settles back to sleep again but then wakes after 45 mins ish because she is still hungry! This has been going on like a relentless cycle now, HV didn't have a clue and couldn't offer any advice. Anyone experienced this? It's just concerning that it's been fine up to now, we haven't changed anything but it's been three days and just getting worse!

Silent reflux?

Maybe also consider CMPI and tongue tie.

Hey, sorry I don't have much advice but it does sound like reflux. Did she have anything prescribed for it?

If your HV isn't any use could you make an appointment with your Dr? My Dr's surgery have a policy of always seeing babies on the same day and it sounds worrying for you.

Sounds like she is getting pain with the reflux or cows milk protein allergy my boy was the same. Go to the gp. You can get meds to help with the pain. We had ranitidine. My boy was the same. It is hideous to watch them get hungry yet be scared to eat. Ask for a referral to a paediatrician too. If you bottle feed and it is cmpa you can get a special formula which doesn't spark an allergic response. Get it on prescription as it is expensive. Ours was called neutramigen. Be warned it tastes boggin so might take a while for dc to accept it. You are lucky as your dc is so young so it will be easier. We had to put ribena in ours to wean ds onto it!

I really don't know why health professionals who specialise in babies are so clueless about these issues. My son had become terrified to eat and would come into feed, then get terrified as he knew it would hurt and pulled away. The breast feeding clinic were clueless and your HV is clueless. This is such a common thing that I really think it is dreadful that they have no idea what could be going on.
