When to change teat size?

Are there any indications I should look for so that I know when I need to change up to a faster flow teat? DS is 7 months and using a size 2 teat at the moment. I suspect that it is taking him slightly longer to finish a bottle now, but he still seems fairly content. Also, what are the signs that a teat is too fast? Thanks!

dd is 4 months and on fast flow no 3 teets designed for a 6 month old! When I first tried her from no 1 to no 2 she gagged and couldn't keep up so I swapped back to no 1. Introduced no 2 teat at 11am feed as she was always hungriest then and was starting to take less and seemed to get worn out before taking full amount. Started refusing bottles altogether so swapped teats to bigger ones. All was fine . Then was poorly and couldn't suck so swapped to no 3 teats so it basically poured into her! She's better now but still on the no 3 teats. Tried a 2 by mistake the other day and she sorta looked at me like "what is this? I suck it and not enough comes out!" - spit out teat! DD is a greedy guzzler but faffy feeder so bigger hole = better for her. If LO has a strong suck then a faster flow may dorwn them! Could always do what I did and sterilize both tops and try the faster one and if a disaster, swap quickly to the slower one again and try again later on as in a week or so if still suspect needs faster teat.

My DS is 8 months and we are still on No 2 teat. He had no probs moving from 1 to 2, but tried various times, including a couple of weeks ago, to move to No 3 and he just chokes so I am sticking with No 2. I think if he can handle a faster flowing one, then let him, as long as he is not choking or drowning in milk, he is fine. I guess if he drinks too fast he might get wind, but they can also get bad wind if they have to suck too hard... Babies are so tricky!!!
