Anyone used a Whittlestone breast pump ???

Hi, anyone tried using a Whittlestone breast pump, either manual or electric? All the blurb about pain-free pulsating massage and fast let down sounds wonderful, but I wonder if it's really like that?

There not sold as widely as the Avent and Medela stuff so I've found it hard to find any reviews. So all thoughts and comments appreciated !

I've got one and found it to be utterly pants. DS is a very strong sucker & I get on with the electric medela ok but couldn't get anything with the Whittlestone. Suppose it would be ok if you started from day 1 with it though. HTH (& sorry not to be more positive)

mine was manual by the way

DON'T BUY ONE. They are crap. I fell for the hype. It lasted 10 minutes before it hit the bin. Couldn't get a single drop unlike with electric pump/avent one/hand expressing.
Total and utter waste of money.

Thx Sally & Iris. I'd a nasty feeling that people would say that, it all sounded a bit a bit too good to be true.
Anyone got even an average opinion of Whittlestone ?

I have tried one of these. My dad kindly offered to buy me an electric pump so I could continue giving some breast milk when I was really suffering with pain when feeding. It was the pain-free thing that convinced me, as my manual Avent pump was starting to make me very sore. I have to say I haven't had much success with it - I think this is mostly due to not having enough time to relax with it to get the let down working. I find I can get about an ounce in half an hour which is pretty rubbish really. But I will say one thing for it - it helped me to identify the cause of my pain. Expressing with the Whittlestone was NOT pain-free - the milk let down was very uncomfortable, like when I had my TENS machine almost on maximum when in labour. Strangely enough, since I discovered this breastfeeding has got a whole lot easier. I have also found that the Whittlestone is good for at least stimulating the breasts if you can't feed that often, even if you can't get much milk out. Hope this helps.
