I've got several bottles of frozen colostrum/early bm from when dd was in scbu. i was going to add them to my ebm but think i've read somewhere that you shouldnt mix fresh and defrosted ebm - anyone know why not?

dont want to waste either but have defrosted the colostrum now!!

You can mix them when they are both defrosted. What you shopuldn't do is add liquid EBM to frozen EBM in the one bottle to freeze as the frozen milk will defrost partly before freezing agin IYSWIM?

sorry - hijack.

mears, i do see what you mean there, but the lady at the milk bank here said i could add fresh milk to the bottle of frozen when saving it up for her to collect (am donating)

is that not right then? or is it because they pasturise the donated milk after they get it from me so it doesnt matter?

thanks for clearing that up mears! will go ahead and not waste it!

nappiesLaGore - what I did when I was expressing for the milk bank was collect milk throughout the day then freeze it in a batch. I never added fresh milk to frozen milk. Best to clarify with her. It might not matter because it is pasteurised.
