12 week old hates left side

For the past few days DS who is 12 weeks has cried when I try to feed him from my left side. I am leaking like crazy from that side so I don't think it is my supply. It is starting to feel engorged but not too bad yet. He was been feeding fine from the right and seems Ok in himself. Any ideas?

Switch up your positions maybe? Lying down/leaking over/rugby ball. No real words of wisdom as DD also 12 weeks is going through an awful nursing strike in conjunction with growth spurt and hates my right side! Laying her flat on my knees and leaning over so my nipple almost falls into her mouth seems to help though.

He may be struggling to cope with the flow on your left side. If your letdown is too strong for him, you could try expressing a little on your left, and then trying again after the initial letdown.

My DC has always hated my right side. It has never had the same supply as the left and I feel quite lopsided sometimes. I have found if I feed for a few minutes on the left until calm, I can then switch to the right for a proper feed. Worth a try.

Thank you all so much for the tips and advice. I have been feeding just from the right still as he objects when I put him in position to feed on the left. I hand expressed from the left in the shower (staying with parents so no pump) and that has made me more comfortable.

Thank you again for all the advice. Next fees going to try the old switcheroo half way through a side and see how we go.

if it doesnt change i would see a cranial osteopath or therapist if i were you - could be that he's uncomfortable in that position if he's tight in his head, neck or shoulders

Cranial osteopath? My dd had a shoulder injury from birth and was very uncomfy on one side.
