Common Cold = poo change?

Just checking really.

DD is a shade off 5 months. She is ebf and has a stinking cold. Runny nose, running eyes, coughs and sneezes ... its going round.

Today she had 2 quite sudden poos. Both normal colour. But one had more "curds" than usual with a little snotty clear matter. She has a little sore spot/fissure on her bum (dr knows, we use ointment) which has flared up.

DP says he thinks its snot etc that shes swallowed. The poo is thick enough and yellow.
This is the cold isn't it? A cold and something else would be an extremely big coincidence. .. right.

Babies who have colds have mucusy nappies - it's normal :)

I actually don't know if it's actual snot in the nappy. Probably not - but I am not a doctor. Babies make more mucus generally when they are under the weather - it's the way the immune system responds. It's just a sign the healthy body is fighting back.

I think all babies have the mucussy poo at some time or other.

Phew thanks! Smile

Poor little thing. Calpol, bathtime, "special milky cuddles" with mum and bed for her tonight...

Hi all

My 6 month has had broncholitis for 8 days. His cough and breathing are a lot better, however he still sounds very congested.

He has been on antibiotics as he also had strep A! Poor buba.

Since been on antibiotics he is having very loose stools (as expected) and clear white mucus in the stool.. (Assuming from his cold?)

Anyway, today I found little strings of blood in the mucus in his stool.

Is all of this due to his broncholitis? Antibiotic?

Help me..Im exhausted!
