BFing 6-12 months no formula. How often do you feed

Just unsure if DS is getting enough milk as only has 4-5 feeds in 24h and 2 or 3 of those are more like snacks.

I know its like when they EBF in the first 6 months you can't tell and just have to assume they are taking what they need but what if they are full from solids and water so don't take enough milk. Are they still getting all they need?

This used to worry me too, but ds is now 2.5 and a big, healthy boy. Once he was comfortably on 3 proper meals a day (around 7 months I think) he had 3 main bfs a day, when he woke in the morning, before his main afternoon nap and at bed time. He'd sometimes want more if he was overtired, ill etc. I was back at work by 8 months so milk on demand wasn't an option for him for most of the week. Try not to worry, he'll soon let you know of he wants more

This is interesting. .. dd will be weaning in a month. I've lost a lot of weight (like too much!) and have nursing rash. I'm exhausted as she feeds so often.
I was considering mixed feeding after 6 months but if she cuts down like this and is ok it might just sort itself out! Smile

My DD is almost 10 monks and a terrible water and I was just wondering the same. For the last 3 days she won't eat any solids or finger foods. Nothing! Just breast feeds and doesn't seems that interested in that. Any advice?

So worried she'll not gain weight or even lose weight as she's cruising and crawling everywhere too. I just don't know what else I can do :(

OP my DD (almost 9mths) is having a feed on waking, another mid morning, mid afternoon and bedtime. Sometimes one in the night. Three meals a day.

Thank you all.
Knittingbee sounds like the same pattern as my DS so good to know.

He is getting his first tooth at the moment so less keen on solids this week which has lead to a poosplosion like pre weaning but nommed down dinner so that's good.

Countryside I've found that yoghurt is the answer to feeding. If he isn't keen I alternate yoghurt and main meal or pop a bit of yoghurt on the end of the spoon so he thinks its just yoghurt when I touch it to his lips Wink
