Reassure me

Yep me again with the PFB anxiety.

DD is 4 months, had 2 drops of red blood in her poo yesterday. Go to GP who looks at her bum and says she sees a small cut/fissure, bit the obvious disclaimer to keep an eye out for intolerance or allergy. She was most thorough and rang the hospital who confirmed it was a fissure.

DD is fine in herself with clear skin and no belly pain. Soft torso. Eats happily, sleeps well.

So like an idiot I read a thread in patenting on CMPA and visit the website. So many symptoms!! Sad

Like all babies, she sneezes (sudden light changes, excitement and dust!).
She sometimes posset a little curdled milk (like once a day if that).
She grows slightly slower than average.

...but really she is extremely unfussy, loves her milk and sleeps well. She can go several days without crying if I'm on the ball with boob, nappies and Mr teddy bear.

It's just a sore bum isn't it?

Yes it's a sore bum. At least it sounds like that to me and your medics have confirmed it. Blood in stool - actually in the stool, so from the lower gut - is not a few spots on the nappy, but usually a streaky thread of blood actually in the poo. Spots on the nappy will come from her anus, and are not a sign of cmpa.

Every human being sneezes. Babies may sneeze a lot as their nasal passages are short and it takes very little to irritate the mucus membrane. It's good to sneeze!! It prevents pathogens entering the baby's system.

Step away from doctor Google :)

You've reassured me that I'm not such a worry wort after all! Seriously though, yes she just has a bit of a sore bum and it will have healed within a few days because babies heal very quickly.

I bawled when they did the heel prick test so I do totally get how emotional it all feels.

You've got a baby who can go several days without crying?! You've got a hell of a happy content and healthy baby there! Flowers

Argh I am going to say something which is really not being an arse as I know you are stressing etc, but because you've said in the past you have found stuff you have read to be triggering for anxiety, but a baby crying is healthy and normal and even if you are 'on the ball' and feed, placate and etc all day long it's not a bad thing if your baby cries a bit, it's not bad parenting etc. I just wanted to say that because the idea if a baby never having to cry for days is amazing but also not very attainable and also the stress level involved in that level of watchfulness must be insanely hard. So I know you didn't mean it but I found reading 'she doesn't cry for several days if I'm on the ball' a bit... Hmmm, my baby cries, am I not sufficiently on the ball?

Thanks all! Smile Yep they were round spots not streaks (I took a photo for the gp so she saw!).

Sounds good.

DH tells me to chill out too as "babies cry sometimes, doesn't mean they'll need therapy!" ...tbh she is pretty cheerful with anyone - no colic etc - so it's probably not even my pfb mothering! Grin
