giving up breastfeeding

My dd is 17 weeks and becoming very fussy at the breast. Having lost a lot of weight after her birth we were told to top up my milk by breastfeeding clinic and hv. Very disappointed but wanted my darling to grow and be healthy. Now we are on 4 bottles and one breast feed first thing in the morning. We were feeding at 4 pm but she screamed when milk not coming quick enough from me and also didn't seem to be satisfied. She fussed then until 7pm bedtime bottle. No determination to get milk and giving up arching back even after burping. I am gutted and wanted to get to at least six months. I am concerned the last feed will diminish too. Any advice? Have tried skin on skin and feeding on demand between bottles. Also fenugreek supplements, infacol, fennel tea for wind etc.

your baby is probably having a nipple confusion. you might need a bottle that match closely to your breastmilk flow. And it is probably that the more you bottlefeed, the less milk your body will make.

Probably nipple confusion. The more she feeds the more milk you make. Porridge, oats are good. Snack on flapjack, water intake. She has to work harder to get milk out of you as it's a unique way to feed to her, and a bottle is "easier" for her but just try feeding her your milk more so you make more. Supply & demand basis.
Has she been checked for tongue tie?

I'm not sure where you are up to with the feeding now, maybe I am too late. But here's hoping. I had a real struggle at the beginning, and I think stress is one of the biggest factors in low supply. My son has a tongue tie which we found was causing a lot of the problems, and now 7.5 months in he is still feeding and beautifully, but it was not always that way, in fact it was torture initally. If you can loan an electric pump from your health visitor, I would.
I have 3 honest blog posts about my feeding journey, from mastitis to severe damage and bleeding, latch problems, low supply, pump loaning, tongue tie revision etc, i hope you might find them helpful xx
