8 wk old DD been bottle fed since 2 weeks due to severe cracked and bleeding nipples!! etc Last 3 days DD started to refuse her feeds when she is giving hungry cues! When DD placed in crook of arm and bottle introduced immediately starts crying and pushes teet out of her mouth and pushing the bottle away...casuing leakage and more screaming! Since 7am this morning DD has only taken a TOTAL of 10 ounces and every feed today has been sooo stressful. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. DD not unwell and not showing signs of dehydration but I'm getting worried as shes taking such small amounts at such stange times! HV wondering if DD has a poor sucking action?! Any ideas anyone? Anyone else having similar problems??

Maybe colic? Try Gaviscon. Sorry - I bf mine but they still got colic and the Gaviscon helped.

My dd did this at 5-6 weeks old-ended up in childrens A&E as she has not eaten anything all day (of course she took full bottle angelically in front of A&E doctors) Realised eventually that all this was down to tiredness(she was a bad napper)-when this was sorted so were feeding problems. Also she had a dummy (and still does unfortunately) and we often mistook rooting for dummy as rooting for bottle.
Doctors checked her mouth for soreness and suggested trying soya milk, which she immediately gobbed out.
Could be tiredness, I seem to remember a lot of head wriggling, and worrying of bottle like a terrier with a rat, Does your lo not like taste of formula? Could you change that?

It sounds obvious but have you tried changing the teat to a faster one? My ds behaved exactly the same way at around 8 weeks and it turns out he was frustrated as the milk was flowing too slow.
