Getting a posterior tongue tie diagnosis in Scotland (Edinburgh)

Several people in this forum have suggested that issues I am having with breastfeeding sound typical of posterior tongue tie. DS (10wo) was checked at the hospital, by two midwives and my HV, all of whom say he does not have tongue tie. MN advice is that this is not unusual.

So can anyone advise where I can get him checked to get a final definitive opinion from someone who really knows?

Many thanks.

Have you tried googling a private GP or maternity nurse or mw? Not ideal having to pay but it might get it sorted. Have you been to the breastfeeding drop in clinics in edinburgh, the staff there will see feeding babies all the time so should have a better idea than a mw.

Hiya, my DS had a posterior Tonge tie checked and snipped at Yorkhill in glasgow. HV referred us directly and we were seen in a few days. I think the clinic is a tuesday, just need referred. About 9 people told us there was no TT then a different hv said it was posterior and hard to spot. DS went from losing weight to putting on 3 oz the week after TT cut then 14oz the following one again, and he's been great since. Perhaps hv or gp for referral? I had to totally keep on at hv to get referred. I really hope you can get something sorted out to get seen, it's very frustrating..... Confused

Breastfeeding clinics in Edinburgh do the referrals I think. My son's posterior TT didn't look too bad but the midwife at the clinic agreed that it's not how it looks, it's the effect it has on the baby that's important. We got it snipped at eight weeks and things started to improve within a few days. Good luck!
