When did you stop formula feeding? And when did you switch to a cup?

I think the recommended age is one?

Ds is one and has one bottle of formula befiore bed and one in the morning. He was having one in the afternoon as well until last week but was not drinking all so I thought maybe he wanted to drop it.

I tried giving him milk in a cup yesterday afternoon but it did not go down well at all. He tried it and started screeming.

What are people's experiences with this? Should I go cold turkey and just start giving him milk in a cup morning, and bedtime or switch to milk in a bottle and then move to a cup?

The other thing is, he has his morning bottle at 6am and then sleeps for up to 2 more hours which is a godsent. I don't want to jeopardise this.

Any advice appreciated.

I have 5 kids and I made attempts with all of them at around 12- 13 months of age to introduce a cup and drop bottles. They all varied but it was between the ages of 13 months to 18 months with my lot. I kept the bedtime routine the same but just substituted the bottle. Some nights they refused but not for more than 3 nights in a row. They soon catch on if you stick with it.

Having said all that, I think 12 months might be a tad early.

Ds stopped formula completely at 15 months, this was more due to me buying so much of it!

I cut one 'feed' at a time. The last being bedtime. Ds had a cup during the day from 12 months and a bottle for breakfast and bed until 15m.

Don't rush, just take one step at a time. I know what you mean about being wary of it affecting sleep/routine, I was worried about this too, especially bedtime. When he switched completely I can honestly say it made no difference to naps.

Ds took to cows milk ok, but some don't. It tastes different as it's not so sweet.

If he doesn't use a cup at all for milk at the moment I would carry on with bottles until he accepts cows milk, then move to cup. You could try cup in the day first with meals for example, this is what I tried. Leaving bedtime bottle to last!
Good luck!

What i did was substituted 1 bottle of formula for 1 cup of cows milk each day then increased it over the week. Both my children were on cows milk between 11months and 13months
