Hello

Would you recommend a steam or microwave steriliser?

Many thanks,

Pumpkin

i had a microwave steriliser and it was great, it was the compact one from mothercare, you cant usually get as many things in them though as the full size electric sterilisers, depends whaT you are going to be doing, ie, breast feeding and just needing to sterilise the odd bottle and a breast pump, or mainly bottle feeding in which case you will have more to sterilise.

I have the Avent microwave one and really like it. It only takes 5 mins and doesn't take up loads of space in the itchen as it is kept out of view in microwave. It depends one whether you wantto make up all bottles for the day in one go cos it only fits 4 bottles, but as it only takes 5 mins it is no hassle to use it a few times.

Depends on:
-how much space do you have in the kitchen?
(microwave preferable if space limited)
-are you likely to be travelling a lot with it (micro good again because lighter and when you pack you can put things in it)
-how important is it to you to just have to press one button each time as opposed to however many it takes to set the microwave?
(obviously steam are simpler to use in this sense).

I used a microwave one, really simple to use. Put bottles in with a small amount of water and press just 2 buttons on microwave! '5'followed by start!
I live in a tiny terrace so I kept it in the microwave during the day.

Def microwave! my mom can't belive how easy it is since "her day" stays sterile for 3 hours if steriliser not opened.

i always had a steam one as i worried incase my microwave broke then i couldnt sterilize the bottles.

Don't forget about cold water sterilising - we changed from a microwave steriliser having realised in hospital how easy the cold water ones are - all sterile in 15 mins and you just have to change the water every 24 hours, but everything's sterile all day if need be. Easy to travel with as well.

Same here.Cold water sterilizing is so easy peasy.I have a tommee tippee microwave sterilizer which doubles as a cold water one as well.
