Does anyone know if Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome affect your ability to produce milk? To cut a long story short I desparately tried BF DD, milk never came in (got loads of support on here) (Before anyone asks how I know boobs never got hard/ sore DD didn't produce many wet nappies and no poo for 3 days at 10 days, latched was checked by MW) Today was in chemist asking what else I could try to relieve DD's colic and reflux and ended up telling him I got over the whole feeling of being a failure about BF cos am lucky to have DD cos of PCOS. He then said that was probbaly the cause of my BF problem and they should have given me drugs to help before DD was born!!! Does anyone know if he's right? I'm sitting here seething in case it is (made worse by DH being away on exercise and poor DD having colic and reflux)

Don't mind all hunker. Article on Kellymum says that 20% of women with PCOS report an over supply.

I have PCOs and I had no idea about this problem - but it makes sense now. It took 7-8 days for my milk to come through after I gave birth to my son. I was so stressed, but muy doctor told me the delay was due to sever anaemia, having lost so much blood at the birth.

Another one here - I have PCOS and utterly failed to feed DS despite trying icredibly hard and having loads of help etc. Am newly pregnant again (and at 6 weeks its twins-help) so god knows what happens then........

My sis and I've both got PCOS and never had any problems BF our LOs. Not sure whether there is a link or not, might be worth contacting Verity to find out if they have any evidence anecdotal or not?

It sounds like everyone with PCOS is getting effected differently. My friend had it and was told she would not be able to any kids. Years later she had a baby boy and had no trouble breastfeeding for the first couple of weeks and then she started having difficulty with her supply. Eventually she overcame it and breastfed easily thereafter.

alex look at article on Kellymum link below. If I have another I'm going to talk to GP and ask for a referral back to consultant to see what they can do to help.

I do agree determination people with PCOS have very different experiences I was told I'd never concieve naturally.
