Am I jeopordising my milk supply by stopping night feeds? Worried now

Hi

My 8 month DD has never been a great sleeper and up until Saturday she was waking for her dummy a couple of times from bedtime (7ish) to midnight then from 2am waking and I was feeding her between 2 and 4 times. I was absolutely shattered and feeling pretty down with everything. So, on Saturday we did away with the dummy and I stopped feeding her during the night (well have fed her around 4.30 some nights this week). I really don't think DD needed the night feeds as she's taking a good amount of solids and feeds often during the day.

However, I am keen to bf her for a while yet and so I wanted to know if I am risking my milk supply by not feeding her in the night?

Thanks
Lucy

teh short answer is no
by 8 months, feeding is well and truely eastablised

No, you should be absolutely fine. From what I know, milk supply is pretty delicate in the first few months (particularly in the first 6 weeks) but if you're been exclusively bf (well, with some solids now) for 8 months, your supply should be solid.

I stopped night feeds at 6 months with DS1, and my supply wasn't stellar before that, but I don't think it got worse.

You'll be fine. AFAIK, after the phase of establishing bf (the first 6-8 weeks, usually), the supply is very good at adapting to demand. Enjoy your sleep!

Thanks for your replies. DD seems to be sleeping better since we stopped the nightfeeds and I'm certainly feeling a lot happy and a lot better for having some unbroken sleep and some time with DH in the evening
