Think my bf journey is over -:(

Two DC2. Fed one til 17 months and the second until 22 months. I have been poorly this week and haven't been able to feed. She has seemed to understand and has only asked once. I think that our journey is over and while I'm sort of ready I'm also really really sad.

That must be a sad feeling, but you have done amazingly!

I admire you ladies that can do this so much. I'm only 8 months in to feeding my first but I'm already feeling a little antsy about it and pondering when I should stop, and get my body back.

I had thought that a few times and we carried on after a gap. It's probably a time that you could encourage the end of if you wanted but could continue if that's what you both want.

It's always sad when something draws to a close, doubly so with BF as hormones seem to make it difficult. I was v sad about stopping at 16m and 24m with my sons even though I thought I was ready. Will be even worse when the time comes with DD as she's def the last baby. You've done an amazing thing, soon you'll look back on it and be proud, not sad. Get well soon Flowers

It feels sad - I was sad for a week when mine suddenly decided he did not want to breastfeed at 21 months (he only had a morning feed by then). However, after nearly 3 weeks he asked again and now has it every morning. I neither encouraged nor denied - but enjoy morning cuddles. I think it is sad whenever you stop - no matter what age... even when you both are ready.

Yep its a funny feeling.

Dd self weaned, in the before her 1st birthday she had 3 feeds and none since.

I was a bit stunned as I didn't see it coming, very sad to realise I may never bf again and quite pleased that it had concluded so smoothly.

Thanks for everyone's comments. She has asked for it a every other day but I have declined her. I probably wasn't clear above but I wanted to stop at about 2 and age is almost there. As she wasn't screaming for it now seemed like a good time. I was exhausted and it was taking its toll. But I'm still sad. Immensely sad xHmm

It's normal to feel sad, but that will pass, and in a short while you will feel happy that you have achieved so much. I thought I would never want to stop bfing, but I did, and I don't miss bfing at all. Children get older and there is so much to look forward to, and they will still need you.
