My 13 week old is offered 6oz 5 times a day/eve. At each feed now he will happily take the first 4 or so oz. He then starts pushing the teat out and around his mouth. Sometimes I then take it out and offer it back 5 mins later and try to wind him. He doesn't seem distressed when pushing it out or playing with it and in fact often is looking at me/smiling through the teat. He used to take pretty much the whole 5oz or so. Is he too distracted?
He does suffer from wind (it's been quite bad recently) - I use Infacol before each feed and do sometimes give him gripe water (usually evening and 10.30 feed to get the wind up and stop it from waking him up).
Can anyone offer any advice ?
Many thanks

if he doesn't want more after he's been winded he's full up

they have a growth spurt around 12 weeks so he's probably settled down a little

just let him drink what he wants and don't worry

I dont know much about bottle feeding/quantities of milk, but, I would say that as long as he seems happy, not in pain, and is continuing to gain weight/thrive, then dont worry too much

if he just doesn't want it then go with it. My ds never took more than 6oz at a go

My little girl started doing this at 13 weeks and I think it may be to do with the gums starting to get ready for teething as this was about the same time she tried to start shoving everything in her mouth. She will push the teat along her gums and play with it. I think it also coincides with the time when they learn to explore with their mouths so they are becoming more inquisitive. :-)

Thank you that's great....was so used to him going up an oz or so that I get a bit worried about him when he seems disinterested. Think he also might be a bit constipated...he's not pooed today (oh dear - he can poo up to 6 times a day !) - Too much information !
