Time for solids, or just more b/milk?

I started a thread a few days ago, because having had ds2 weighed, I realised he'd slipped right down the centile charts (98th to 2nd). But, he was very contented.

Not any more!!! He's now waking once or twice in the night, and seems to be hungrier. Now, I do know that this is a mechanism for increasing the milk supply, and not necessarily a cue for weaning, BUT, given his low weight, and the fact that he seems to be getting hungrier still, despite having more milk, I'm beginning to wonder if he should have some solids. I also know that milk has more calories per ounce than pureed fruit or baby rice, but I'm not really sure what to do here.

He's 22 weeks btw (or thereabouts - 5 months and 3 days), and weighs about 13.5 pounds.

What solids would you give him?

Are they more calorific than milk?

No.

Keep feeding. He's asking you to make more milk by feeding more often because he needs more milk.

Plus it's hassle to wean them

hunker, that's the way I'm thinking! Am putting it off, because of the hassle!!!

Just don't want to starve the poor baby!

It sounds like he's getting a good appetite back, which is good

Make sure YOU eat well - when dd is feeding a lot at night I have a bowl of porridge before I go to bed and have a big glass of water by my bed

Well, having posted this morning, he had the biggest b/feed in a long time at lunchtime today, and is sleeping very happily, which he hasn't done for a week or so, so maybe these night feeds are doing their job!

In any case, it's only 3 weeks or so till the magic 6 months.

Kayzed, that's amazing that you managed to express that much!!!! Is he a big baby?
