Wine and breastfeeding

What does everyone think about this? After a long day of babycare, a glass of wine is so tempting, esp after 9 months' (almost) abstinence. But is it bad for dd? Do other breastfeeding mums drink wine and if so, how much? I know that one glass makes me want two (but that's generally as far as my thirst goes).

A glass of wine after bubba has gone to bed is the symbolic representation of me time!! I don't feel guitly I just relax and enjoy. I think us mums have far to much else to worry about. I was also at a wedding where there was a health visitor breastfeeding and she had had quite a few wines. My personal opinion is (similar to tiktoks post) if i wouldn't drive I wouldn't breastfeed plus i feel wine is a lot better than spirits (vodka, gin, etc) although I might just feel that way cos it suits me .. hahaha

Oh dear. I haven't noticed wine making any difference to my dds, even gallons of it. I asked the paediatrian at the clinic about drinking and she said the biggest danger was dropping the baby or smothering it - nothing to do with alcohol in breast milk... So, make sure the baby is safe and that your'e not going to lie on top of it, or drop it! It says on the BBC website that drinking alcohol can lower the amount of milk. I am now trying to stop drinking and doing a bit better at drinking less

I am exclusively bf and drink wine with my dinner every day, yes that's every single day.

And sometimes I have a pint of cider in the pub at weekends...

Agree that we have enough other things to worry about, and that the main risk would be any drink-induced uncontrolled behaviour rather than the drinking itself.

I drink sometimes. I also think that the biggest danger is of me falling asleep feeding ds at night and smothering him than the alcohol itself, so I don't drink much. I will drink more when he sleeps through the night though.

(mmm - it sounds nice just saying that. sleeps through the night)
