Last night DD cluster fed 7-11pm. Not like her at all! She usually feeds 2 hourly then 3 hourly overnight. Never misses a feed!
She's 5 weeks old and sleeps in a basket next to me.
At 4am I woke with a start: she'd been spark out FIVE HOURS and so had I! She seemed hungry but not famished.

Reassure me she was just digesting and I didn't sleep through plaintive cries for food? She never sleeps 5 hours! I'm wracked with guilt but DH says I wake up when she coos so would Deffo wake to feed no matter how tired I was.

There's no chance you slept through the screaming of a hungry baby, don't worry Grin

Grin Mummy guilt eh? I should be cheering that she can sleep longer!

I remember the panic when dd1 first slept through the night!
Babies sleep patterns change all the time so just because it's never happened before doesn't mean anything's wrong. I very much doubt you would have slept through her crying - is she in her own room or yours?
Enjoy the sleep!!

Didactylos · 25/10/2014 11:46

shes getting bigger and changing her pattern
cluster feeds and a long sleep - sounds quite normal, enjoy the sleep
(i remember the first night ds slept for a long stretch- DH and i were bolt upright in the bed wondering what was wrong Blush and checking his breathing)
just dont get used to it because she will change the rules again Grin

She's right next to my side of the bed. Arms reach! No way I'd miss her cry.

But it's so weird realising she didn't wake me for several hours! Ha ha she will be back to 2 hourly tonight I'll bet!

Ah yes, they love to lull you into a false sense of security - she'll probably be up hourly tonight to make up for it!!Wink

AW BLESS, and I mean that fondly. Babies really test you! Enjoy the sleep. Remember the clocks go back tonight and might affect her again. I was feeding mine two hourly in the day until they were 6 months old so we decided night time didn't start until midnight so could say we had only been up once in the night if he woke at 3/4am.

Redling · 25/10/2014 18:02

itsfab I think like that! I take him to bed at 11.30 and feed him, so when he wakes at 3 and 6, I count 6 as morning with a possible wee sleep after, so only one wake up!

squizita · 25/10/2014 20:37

Well she's doing it again... feeds well, but 3 minutes later is rooting, hungry etc. Hope it means another long sleep when she does drop off! :) Just seems to do it evening time. Started earlier tonight - 6 not 7!

Don't forget the clocks change tonight and she won't know so that hour just now plus the clock change means a very early start for you tomorrow if I've got my maths the right way round.

slightlyworriednc · 25/10/2014 20:45

Mine did that...went from 2/3 hourly feeds to 7 hours! I'm not exaggerating when I say that I thought he must be dead the first time it happened. I woke up and it was light...my blood ran cold.
Happily, he was fine! And tbh, he was a pretty good sleeper from then on. Hope you'll be lucky too!
