Expressing

my Daughter is 9 months and I have returned to work in the past 6 weeks, only 3 days a week. I pump once a day to provide the bottle that my daughter has while with my mum/ nan.
The amount that I have been able to express has recently really decreased, I used to be able to get 5oz in ten minutes, now I have only got 2 oz in 20 minutes.
I still nurse my DD all night, and 4-5 time a day for the other 4 days a week.

How can I increase the amount I am able to express? I don't really want her to have formula during the day, although I know it's not the end of the world if she does.

Thanks in advance!

Could you express at other times? I would suggest trying to express once a day even on the days you are not at work. This will build up a 'stock' of milk. You are likely to get more when expressing at home because it will be more relaxed than at work.

Try expressing (or feeding on your days off) at the same time each day. It will let you body to make the milk at that time and should be easier to express. I expressed when I went back to work and it dipped but then picked up again.

Does she still need that bottle? She might be OK without it at 9 months if she has a cup of water and a snack instead. If you are nursing her before and after work and at night she will still be getting enough milk. If you have time at work you could try pumping twice. Two ten minute sessions might produce more milk than one 20 minute session.
