bottle warmers - yes or no?

through a previous post on here I learned about the wonder that is the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine, but my OH thought it was too much money to fork out just to save a few minutes.

So I gave in on that count but now looking at a bottle warmer. Again he thinks I'm being lazy and just looking for ways to make life a bit easier, which is maybe true (well not the lazy part but who wouldn't want to make things easier?), but if you think about the water and electricity you waste with the constant boiling the kettle to warm the bottle in a pan......I think between making up and heating bottles I must be boiling the kettle 15 times day....

so what are your thoughts on bottle warmers? useful or gimmick?

We can see this thread is quite old now, but if you’ve landed here looking for suggestions and guidance, we’ve recently updated our best bottle warmers page with recommendations from Mumsnet users, plus advice on whether they're right for your family. We hope you find it useful.

I like mine for night feeds. I keep it ready to go and near the bed so I never have to mess around with kettles etc in the middle of the night.

Ive never had one, I would make all four feeds at a time (steriliser held four bottles), and theb chill them and store in the fridge.

When she was ready for a feed Id run the bottle under a hot tap to take the edge off the cold and she got them room temp. If I was prepared, Id take the bottle out of the fridge an hour before she needed it so I could let it get to room temp.

I used one for night times (a Mothercare one for about £* I think) when DS was smaller. Now I use the microwaveBlush

No bought one and never used it once. A jug with boiling water less faff.

I've never used mine, but then I have bought a perfect prep! Incidentally you might want to point out that it doesn't just save a few minutes, it saves LOADS of time. And I'd slap my DH if he suggested that wanting to get a feed made as soon as possible was lazy', when you have a screaming baby or are getting up 3 times a night to make bottles! It's a fucking lifesaver! He may change his mind when the baby comes, mine isn't so predictable about feeds that I could do the whole kettle boiled and then bottle cooled down, that takes about 20 mins! Not with a hungry baby. I'd go without so many things to make the feeding as easy as possible.

My DH was a bit smirky when the Perfect Prep arrived from Mothercare online, but within a day or two he was singing its praises.

It was on offer but I would happily have paid full price or more for it because I find it the best thing ever.
