Stopping breastfeeding at 2 months

After a difficult journey we've decided to move onto formula at 2 months. DS has had latch issues galore, a recently discovered cows milk protein allergy and is now no longer gaining weight.

He has always had a bottle in the evening, after we reduced his top ups and the health visitor suggested adding in another bottle in the mornings to help his weight gain. He's on Nutramigen.

Already he's going longer between breastfeeds, but he is a much much happier baby now we've cut out dairy and he's not as hungry. I think it's time to make the switch but I want to do it very slowly. Can anyone suggest how to approach this? I've recently had plugged ducts and mastitis so want to avoid this again.

I'm sad to switch but seeing how much more content he is I realised that I was continuing solely for me and the bond I like having with him.

I'm not trained but I think the current advice is to drop one feed every two weeks. You might want to give one of the bfing lines a call though and talk it through with a BFC Smile
