My body just craves crap. I can't remember the last time I are fruit and veg and enjoyed it. I usually manage to squeeze in a bowl of porridge in the morning on the preschool run, snack on either a pain au chocolat or two, not much else until dinner. No fruit. No salad ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused help!!!!

To be really honest, I would never eat fruit & veg. Maybe a banana occasionly. My diet would consist of processed foods & little else. I'm a size 8 so not over weight.

But I know as you do, it's crap!
As an adult I chose to eat healthy food so I stay well. My dd is 8 months now. Still bf so I also think about her.

I doubt your diet could adversely affect the baby but you will feel better for eating better.

I don't buy junk so i can't be tempted. Plans meals etc. It all helps. Good luck!

It helps to start day with healthy breakfast to get some fruit/ veg in already. For you add fruit and nuts to porridge for easy change.

I don't buy any 'junk' either as stops me eating.

Actually when breastfeeding I craved lots of watermelon and cucumber. I think it stopped me dehydrating also

I've never had interests in salad type things. I wish I did! Maybe where I don't eat it, that's why my kids don't? 8 month old will try anything but my girls who are 2.5 and almost 4 don't like salad, especially tomatoes. I hate them.. But I've never made it known?
They love fruit but now it's getting colder weather they don't seem interested.

I am doing better not buying junk but then a family member will bring some nice biscuits or just the general things when I've not had time (or made myself priority) to eat I end up snacking on crap. Or nothing at all.

I'm a size 8 too, everyone says oh look at your figure... Yeah but I feel lie shit and have a crepe tummy lol (very thankful for my babies though.

I have porridge most mornings and this helps.

I need to try and be more organised with meal planning and prep.Confused

How about batch cooking a few things?

I make a bolognaise sauce that has lots if veg in ie tomatoes/ peppers/ onions/ mushrooms etc. You can blend sauce if children aren't keen on bits. Then freeze in portions so can just take out and microwave and add to pasta/ baked potato etc

I also freeze a chicken/ bortolli bean and veg thing with stock and creme Fraiche. Add to rice or pasta as needed

Both I make enough for say 10 family meals at a time so I only make once every 6 months or so.

And I make loa of soups as full of veg and can just give to kids/ us for lunch regularly ( prob half the week). Have about 4 different ones frozen at time. Can take advantage of reduced veg in supermarket also

I'm alwaaaaaays thirsty so drink loads of water but I'm not eating any more than I should, even though HCP's told me to eat 2,400 calories a day. I eat toast or porridge for breakfast, crackers and cheese or a sandwich and fruit for lunch, maybe a small casserole for dinner. 2 biscuits with a cup of tea at night. I'm also walking a lot with baby (3 weeks) and toddler so pregnancy weight has fallen off.

Ds is a pound and a half over his birthweight already.

If you're not hungry, I wouldn't worry. Your body will tell you what it needs. Are you taking a multivitamin?

FoodieMum3 · 08/10/2014 08:50

Homemade soups are a great idea to get lots of veg in. I will buy veg in Aldi during the winter and make soup to freeze.

Are you taking breastfeeding vitamins? They take some of the pressure off your diet.

I squeeze plenty of veg into curries, stir frys and fajitas. Nice and spicy, so doesn't taste at all like a salad! You can split some off for your children before your add some of the spices if they like milder food.

Levismum · 08/10/2014 09:56

I haven't been advised by anyone HV or MW about my diet or how many calories I should be consuming or any foods to avoid. I was a bit more hungry for about 2 weeks but after that I was pretty normal. I eat much as I always have. No breakfast. Lunch & dinner.

I haven't really thought about it... feeling bad now!

squizita · 08/10/2014 10:47

The only reason I eat fruit and veg is because I fear I might get what my DH charmingly calls "bum grapes" Grin No urge to eat them at all.
I like stodge!
Foods I've been having which are healthier are:
-oat cakes instead of bread

  • brown bread
-lentil based curry and veg curry/Chinese -beans of all varieties -chopped veg or peas stirred into things like casseroles or sauces. DH is doing much of the cooking so it's often bloke food ie "...and chips". Which I love at the moment.

Usually I'm a right foodie type!Blush

art&co how big is your freezer? and how long do they last in the freezer? i need to do this as i do love hearty foods, i just never get time or not organised enough. just tupperware boxes?

I was taking the breastfeeding 6m+ vitamins with omega 3 but ran out... need to get more.

i know the usual more water would help me more. I just dont make myself priority i think...

*sat drinking a cuppa decaf tea & packet of doritos)
*I have had porridge, redbush tea, piece of cake at playgroup, cheese & ham sandwich, so far today...

no fruit or veg!

i wish i was a carrot & hummus/ tomatoes and cous cous, salad, all fruit kind of person. I really do. :(

Wrote long msg and lost!

Basically we have 3 drawer freezer, stuff fits fine. Mainly one drawer full of frozen soups/ meals. One fresh chicken/ salmon, odd frozen veg. Top drawer tiny so has the vodka and ice!

We use lock and lock boxes as can take lid off and straight in microwave. But also use large yogurt pots for soup/ sauces sometimes. We are gradually buying the lock lid tall round ones for easy soup storage though
