DS is 5 weeks old. For the past week, his stools have been the usual mustard yellow with seedy bits, but there is also mucus there. Mostly it is mixed in, but today there seemed to be small globs of mucus which had a green tinge to them (although I could be imagining it). Todays nappy also smelt a bit sour.
I mentioned it to the GP earlier this week (was there for something else), but he didn't seem concerned. DS has not had a cold so I don't think this is what it is.
A breastfeeding counsellor said mucus normally means the gut is irritated. So now I'm thinking CMPI, but would the stools not normally be green if this was the case?
Other symptoms DS has, are being agitated in the middle of/towards the end of feeds, and generally being a windy and unsettled baby. However, these symptoms are probably related to a posterior tongue tie which was cut 2.5 weeks ago (with no improvement in feeding). Not sure if this is relevant, but he has slept a lot in the last 24 hours, and hasn't fed as well as usual (although not so little that it is concerning). His last weigh-in was 10 days ago and he was holding his percentile line.
