what age were you down to two breast feeds a day?

I've done this twice before so should remember, but can't! Dc3 is 7 months old, bf multiple times a day still but taking v happily to solids. At what age did your baby end up on just morning/evening bfeeds? I'm not going back to work imminently but there are various whole day courses I'd like to do asap, and I don't know when a safe time to book them for would be!

Not exactly what you're asking but DD is 8mo and on my work days she only has morning and night breastfeeds and formula in the day - this works fine and she's perfectly happy with it (although treats me like an all-day buffet when I'm at home in the day!). I think supply is well-established by that age but obviously it depends if they'll drink formula or not.

Thanks if I was going back to work or doing something essential that'd def be my plan, but since it isn't I'm thinking I want to wait both until she's on 3 meals 2 snacks and not regularly feeding in day, and until I am not hideously engorged if I leave her for 9 hours! Both other kids did this, but I just can't remember when:)

A month before he turned three.

Nandocushion · 09/09/2014 20:52

16 months.

About 8 months. I went to work for three short days at 6mo so he went to three bfs a day and one overnight then.
Down to two daytime one night at 8mo.
Then sttn at 10.5mo.
Dropped bedtime just before 1yr and one breakfast feed only at 13mo.

Mine is 11 months and has 2 breastfeeds a day (but still one at night too). She does also have just a few sips of whole milk from a sippy cup mid afternoon (she won't take much more from a cup/bottle).

HilariousInHindsight · 09/09/2014 21:11

Around 1 year old.

bambinibop · 09/09/2014 21:24

I was also wondering this recently! My dd is 7 mo and feeds about 5 times a day still and has solid breakfast and dinner and a tiny bit of solid lunch and no feeds overnight (at the moment! ) sorry not to be helpful just wanted to say I'm the same just wondering when I might be able to leave her for a day to do my keep in touch days at work! She does take formula but it is really about the engorged boobs isn't it!! Sorry to hijack your thread and not even have any good advice!

bambinibop · 09/09/2014 21:25

Also very sorry for ridiculous amounts of explanation marks in that post...

zoemaguire · 09/09/2014 21:40

Not at all bambini! I guess it's a how long is a piece of string question- I have friends who were like wobblestones and had little milk monsters for years on end. But it's useful to see the range! I might aim to book things for around 11 months and hope for the best, and express in the loos if need be:)

DS1 was about a year but had cow's milk in the day.

hollie84 · 10/09/2014 21:14

Though I could leave him for the day when he was having 4 feeds without expressing.

TipTapWentTheCrab · 10/09/2014 21:29

15 months

weebairn · 11/09/2014 18:39

From 10-14 months - usually 3 a day - morning, evening, in the night
From 14-16 months - usually 2 a day - morning and evening
From 16 months - usually 1 a day - morning

No real pattern to it before 10 months, though she never had a lot of night feeds. I seem to remember she was quite adaptable from about 8 months though, so if I was there she'd feed a lot, but if I did have something to do for several hours/all day she was fine with yoghurt or water instead.

That's really helpful,thanks everyone!

Mine is 9m and I work 2 days a week leaving her with an expressed bottle. I don't get painfully engorged in the 9 or so hours I am away from her, and my supply seems to adjust fine - I will sometimes feed her 3 / 4 times in the daytime if I am at home with her as well as morning/night.

I guess it's been the last month or so I've been able to scale up to a full day work with no feeds.

Superworm · 14/09/2014 21:23

14 months ish

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 14/09/2014 21:26

23 mths. She is flippin' tenacious though. Smile

IUsedToUseMyHands · 19/09/2014 23:13

My 18mo still feeds whenever he likes!

Jeggie · 19/09/2014 23:15

33m

ZenNudist · 19/09/2014 23:22

Ds1 I think by 10mo. Like you I forget. Ds2 is 8mo and has a definite morning and evening feed and maybe one other in the day or overnight. He feeds for really short times unless he falls asleep clamped on and then suckles for longer but not really feeding.

I'm worried he doesn't get enough milk but has plenty of wet nappies and 3 good meals a day.

CheesyBadger · 19/09/2014 23:32

I think it was 18 months - 2 years, not sure exactly.
