sterilising breast shells and pump

Am trying to pump and collect enough milk for dh to do a feed every now and again, but it is slow progress as I only seem to collect tiny amounts at any time, meaning I try several times a day. Do I need to resterilise pump and breast shells for each use, or could i put them in fridge or something? If so for how long? I'm not that organised to have them ready for when I want them, as demand feeding, and times still quite unpredictable. I have been lent a steriliser, but no instructions eith it! Any useful tips? thanks

Buy yourself some lansinoh or other make sertilized bags and then you can collect the milk in ther and slowly add to it. as for the pump, I would say that it does need sterilizing each time. If you have a funnel cover and base cover for it and can seal it up when it's been assembled you could leave it ready for use. Avent ones have those but don't know about others. Otherwise could leave milk in the bottle with a lid and just sterilze the top part each time if that makes sense.

I had an avent pump that I used to put the cover over and put it all into the fridge between expressing sessions. Like you I never got much out at a time. No idea if you should do it or not though. My reasoning was that breastmilk can be kept in the fridge for 24 hours so it couldn't make that much difference if it was in the bottle attached to the pump. And if the pump was in the fridge, with all the bits that go near the milk covered then it couldn't have anything too awful grow on it. Really don't know any facts to back that up though!!!!
