Too much poo?

my dd is 12 weeks old and is mostly breastfed with one formula top up a day. She is still cluster feeding a bit as she was 4 weeks premature and still catching up. However, she poos a lot! On cluster feeding days she can poo 5 or 6 times, all big poos and on normal days she can still go 3 or 4 times. The poo looks totally normal and her weight gain is about a pound every fortnight. is this normal ora sign of any problem? It is a bit frustrating to feed so much when it comes out the other end so much!

Yep normal, it does slow down so don't panic!

My bf baby is only now at 5 months doing slightly fewer poos per day (still usually 4 though!).

We were the same, often needing a few changes of clothes each day too.

Yes agree that sounds normal! This link may be reassuring to you breastfeeding.support/breastfed-baby-poop/ But lots of (usually mustard) poop is a great indication of milk intake, more in = more out. And the weight gain shows all is well too. After three months of age, weight gain slows from 30g per day to 20g per day so you may see a settling down soon, but it all sounds quite normal.

Both mine pooled 10-12 times a day for the first few weeks, and DS1 pooled 3-4 times a day until he was about 2.

DS2 has started having solids now and has slowed down from 4-5 to around 2 poos a day but they have always been up to the back of the neck ones.

Thanks everyone, I feel reassured now. I keep reading about be babies who don't poo for days on end but I guess my dd is just a poo monster!
