When to get measured for nursing bra?

My DS was born at 32 weeks so I never had to get measured at the "right" time. He's now 6 years old.

I can't find anything online concrete about when to get measured. I'm 35+4 now x

In my experience, not until well after baby is born. I got measured in Mothercare at the "right" time (think it was 38 weeks), they did whatever the calculation is for cup size and back size, and presented me with a bra that, as it turned out, didn't fit at all - they predicted I was going to be a 36C, I ended up a 32DD/E.

Second time round I just wore one of those stretchy crop top crossover "sleep bras" (Mothercare do good ones) until my size settled down a month or so in, then got measured and bought a few nice bras that I'm still wearing now.

My advice is to get some of the nice comfy crop top type ones and then get measured (does your area have an NCT fitter or a nice independent shop? Much better than mothershite or M&S) after a few weeks once feeding and your supply have settled down. Doing it before is jsut a semi educated guess.

Ok thanks all.
Will just get some night time stretchy ones then :-)

I highly recommend the Bravado original nursing bra. It spans a few cup sizes so you don't have to be precise about guessing your eventual size, and it's soooo comfortable (good enough for sleeping).

Mine saw me through early engorgement to settled supply and I'm still wearing it 12 months in.

I agree with others - waited around 4/5 weeks to get measured. It was only then that the breasts settled into a 'staying size'. Dd is 7 months now and I'm still the same ginormous size. It definitely fluctuated loads before the first month of feeding was over. Not sure when the size will change again, but no doubt when I stop breastfeeding...

Mine didn't change when I weaned last time round, maybe droppped half a cup size. THE BOOB FAIRY'S GIFTS ARE FOR KEEPS.

stares mournfully at all her lovely old dresses and bras that she will never fit into again

I found some maternity/nursing 'soft bras' (like very firm crop tops) in a larger branch of Mothercare and have bought them so I can have one in my hospital bag. They are S, M and L. They come in packs of 2, hope they'll tide me over until milk comes in and I can ascertain how humongous I actually am.

What? No, leedy I refuse to believe you. Surely these melons are not here to stay! Oh my lovely bras! My lovely braaaaaaaas! Shock

Well, I do know some people who dropped back to their normal size after feeding, I just wasn't one of them! My mum was the same so may be genetic.

One of my best friends once angrily told me she has to wear a bra almost every day since having her PFB. Her boobs had swelled to a mighty B cup and were not as pert as they used to be (i.e. were not like a Japanese cartoon superhero anymore). She was in a teeny triangle bikini getting stares from all nearby men at the time!

I had to give a wry smile... I had boulder holders from age 14 LOL! Grin Goodness only knows what they could become after pregnancy and breastfeeding, I may have to hire some suspension bridge engineers...
