Still waiting for milk to come in - did yours take a while? Do people always get engorged?

This is my other thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/breast_and_bottle_feeding/2123068-Day-3-wobble-resorted-to-formula-because-my-nipples-are-mashed-itll-be-ok-right?msgid=48087461#48087461

Just wondering - how long did it take for your milk to come in? Apologies if this thread has been done millions of times before, but I'd be interested to hear if yours took longer and if you had engorgement or not.

i She looked at my feeding log and said that was way too much than to be expected, she's obviously not getting enough from me

I would take this with a pinch on salt, tbh. Both of my babies fed almost 24 hours a say for the first few weeks, no supply problems at all, just pretty normal for a newborn!

My milk didn't 'come in' with engorgement etc. for 6 days after I had DS1. When I expressed (due to SCBU) though, I could see that he was getting some colostrum out. Their stomachs are so so tiny at first.

Second time round my milk came in about 48 hrs after he was born. I was very surprised it was so quick, but I think that was because a) I hadn't had a traumatic birth and illness this time round, and b) I'd BF before so the milk ducts knew exactly what to do when the time came.

Took 4-5 days for me, and no enforcement. Ironically I now have oversupply. Was told by bf counsellor that up to 5 days was normal for first time Mum.

Autocorrect grr...engorgement not enforcement, obviously.
