Hey ladies,
I'm really struggling with my sore boobs tonight. They are throbbing. I am bottle feeding at the moment and lo is 5 days old now. I guess this is my milk coming in?!

What can do to help stop then hurting as much. I'm gunna take some paracetamol in a bit. My mum said to Wear a tight bra for the next few weeks and they should 'dry up'
Is this true?

Any info would be great xx

Your mum is right, but you won't need to wear anything tight, just very firm, and not for weeks. Do ask the midwife as well. Hope you feel more comfortable soon.

When you say you are bottle feeding 'at the moment', do you mean you started bf, or you are sometime bf, sometimes ff?

I wanted to bf but as I have been so poorly I kind of have up the idea as lo was so hungry and I want producing after the energy c sec I had. As I am still very sick I dint think I have the energy to breast feed and get better at the same time. I can not eat properly etc.

Lo is doing so well atv the moment. Daddy and grandma are doing the majority of the care so bottle seems to do the trick :)

If you are happy with this arrangement then no problem. If you are not happy and would like to explore returning to bf, then ask the midwife.

You not eating properly makes NO difference to bf.

No one produces milk straight away - c section, emergency c-section or not. It's normal for milk to take 2-5 days to appear. Babies are not hungry straight away either, though they do need to be fed obv, and sometimes their crying or fussing is because they need to be held close to the breast for comfort.

Just so you know :)

If you are sure you don't want to bf now, then of course setting up with happy, comfortable ff is your priority. But the midwife and you can discuss your options, if you are not sure. It's by no means too late :)
