Breast feeders : what clothes are you wearing??

The weather is really improving over my way and I'm struggling because all of my nursing tops, except one, are ones designed for cold weather! As a result I'm either wearing the same summery nursing top everyday or absolutely sweltering when wearing another.

I have looked online but all nursing tops seem to be long sleeved and snug fitting and I just can't bear the the thought of wearing clothes like that in this heat.

Can anyone direct me to shops/website that do summery nursing tops??

Ugh, that would be strappy sundresses,of course.

I have breastfed for a total of 8 years. I found all "breastfeeding" clothes a waste of money and often very "mumsy" instyle.

Far easier and cheaper to work out the mechanics of normal clothes.
easiest is two layesr- one up one down.

Vest tops are easy, wear two, dresses, button down, vest or crop top underneath, same with shirts.

Breastfeeding only needs to be discreet though if you want it to.
There is no legal requirement.

I can't help but think that two layering would be too hot during the summer though??

My current problem is that I have a funeral to go to next week and I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to wear. Me and DH are going shopping tomorrow but I just cant envision finding any breast feeding friendly dresses that are appropriate for funerals Hmm

The good news though is that the women have been asked not to wear black so at least that gives me more scope!!

I went to a summer funeral. I wore a simple black cotton sleeveless dress dress that buttoned up the front and a black vest top underneath. Plain, simple, elegant and cool.

Hi Writer, hope you and DS are well.

I fed DS1 until he was nearly 3 and never had any special bf clothes, but he's a September baby so most of the frequent feeding happened in winter. DS2 is only 3 months old so feeds a lot when we're out and about, and I'm getting too hot in double layers (not to mention getting bored of separates).

I recently got this dress from Vertbaudet in black and it's absolutely lovely. I agree with a PP that bf clothes are usually fugly but this is very flattering on the old muffin top, comfy and easy to get your boob out discreetly. The fabric feels really nice, hangs well and it looks good on its own or with leggings and a cardi on cooler days.

I'm so pleased with it I've ordered a couple of these tops as well.

PS if you get one, size down. I'm a size 10-12 and the 6-8 fits perfectly Confused.

Hi writer, I am finding nursing specific tops a pain too. They are all to frumpy or too hot. Have you tried looking for tops that have a stretchy cowl or wrapover neckline in normal shops? I find these work better and much nicer looking. No need to layer up either as you can pull top down easily. I got a couple of nice cowl neck vests from phase eight they go with all my existing summer skirts.

I fed 2 babies without a specific breastfeeding top. Just wore normal tops and popped baby underneath

I wear a vest and a t shirt. It's a little warm but whatever, I can cope with that. Or I wear leggings and a dress and just hoik the dress right up, the fabric hangs down and covers what needs to be covered.
