Blocked duct I think since Saturday, hard lumpy area on left breast.

I had mastitis about a month ago (baby now 6 weeks) and took antibiotics.

Her latch is fine, feeding was going great. What's caused it is me pressing that part of the breast when feeding lying down, to clear her nostrils. Won't make that mistake again.

I've tried everything. Feeding on that side regularly and in different positions. Warm baths and massage etc.

It does feel a bit hot and sore on and off so I've taken painkillers when needed.

When are antibiotics necessary? I feel a bit tired/run down but not particularly flu like.

These are pretty good guidelines from Dr Jack Newman:

Basically doesn't sound like you need them yet but I'd work on unblocking the blockage - take ibuprofen regularly to get the inflammation down, lecithin from the health food shop is helpful to sort of degunge/emulsify the milk, lots of warm heat on the area before a feed (hot wet facecloth or hot water in a nappy!). If you start to feel in any way feverish, go to the doctor.
