Hi my lo one is suffering with silent reflux she is currently on ranatadine and infant gaviscon but my GP has suggested carobel he said it may work better than the gaviscon can anyone share experience with it and tell me if I can use it with the ready to drink formula?

Thanks

Hello!
Yes, Carobel saved our sanity. It's a powder that you can spoon into any feed (formula or BM in a bottle). You spoon it in, shake it, its starts to thicken immediately so it stays down in the tum.

Ranitidine and Carobel were what worked for us.

It's a few years since I used it, so you'd have to check the box, but I remember preparing the formula as usual, then just before feeding putting the scoop (or 2, can't remember) into the feed, shaking it and giving it to her.

It's really simple. The only thing is that it gets thicker the longer you leave it, so you can't return to a half finished bottle later on, as it'll be too thick to come out of the teat.

Just seen in your OP that you're using ready to drink formula. Yes, that's fine too, you can use it with anything.

I don't know whether you buy it over the counter though, we got it on prescription.

Thanks very much, I have the carobel on prescription I played around a little with it I haven't given it to my lo yet should it leave a film on the bottle can you remember?

Erm, I think as the bottle is emptying it might stick to the sides a bit, but it's a pretty distant memory.

Give it to her! For us it was much much more effective than infant Gaviscon and really no hassle to use. In the end we weren't even giving DD Ranitidine, the Carobel sorted everything out.

Best of luck, I remember silent reflux being absolutely awful.
