Sorry if this is already somewhere, but after 5 days in hospital I'm losing patience looking Grin stir crazy and cabin fever setting in!
I've been expressing in the hospital using a Medela symphony and have really found it great, but I'm looking at what I can get for when we're home. The hiring costs are just too much in the possible long term. Are the 'retail' medela pumps the same/similar. I'm thinking the parts would be the same. So same fit etc?
Please help, need something to think about other than going home...or not as the case may be Grin

I used a Symphony both in hospital and to relactate. After a few months I switched to a Medela Freestyle. No, it is not as good as the hospital grade pump but I didn't need a hospital grade pump by then. The Symphony costs around £1000 and the Freestyle around £250. Could you afford a 1-3 months of the Symphony?

I hired the symphony for two months and it was brilliant but not a long term option due to ongoing cost.
I bought a second hand Swing for £40 (= one month hire symphony cost) - you can really tell the difference but it still does the job quite efficiently.
The symphony was great at helping to establish my supply - I expressed once a day from week 2 onwards.
All the tubes etc you use for symphony work with all models of medela which is why I felt comfortable buying second hand.
