Breast feeding and supply at 9 weeks

Hello

I'm after some advice really, or just some support to say "it's all fine, chill".

Baby is 9 weeks old and ebf. Cluster feeds in the evenings from about 7 until 10. The thing is that my breasts never feel full in the evening so I'm not sure that she is getting enough milk.

She sleeps really well so only has one feed between 11pm and 8am, hence my boobs feel really full in the morning. I express after the 8am feed which is donated to the local milk bank.

After that my boobs never feel full. Is this normal? Do I need to do anything to try andincrease my supply in the evening?

Have I just encouragedmy supply in the morning due to the expressing? Should I switch this to the evening?

Baby is a good weight, plenty of wet and dirty nappies.

Thanks

Totally normal I think, my boobs were always fuller feeling in the morning and emptier the rest of the time esp in the evenings. it doesn't mean there isn't enough at the other times - boobs make milk on demand so it's not like it's sitting there stored iyswim.

The fullness of your breasts is not a good indicator of supply. If your baby is putting on weight and happy then your baby is likely very well fed. Try not to worry!

Thank you. I kinda knew that was the answer, I just needed to hear it from other ppl.

My breasts mostly feel (bleurgh) not full except first thing in the morning. And I have a 24lb 9 month old Grin You're doing a grand job, keep it up!

Breasts generally feel fuller in the early weeks because there is an over supply of milk. At 9 weeks your body is more in tune with your babies needs so they feel less full .

If you're feeding frequently your breasts won't feel so full - this is a good thing as "empty" breasts mean fattier milk and signals to your body to produce more.
