How do I stop breastfeeding?!

I want to stop bf dd who is now 15 months. Don't know where to even start with it, as she will not drink cows milk or formula. To complicate things further she will only fall asleep at night on the breast.
Where do I even begin with it all?

Feel awful taking it away from her but I need to get her to start going to sleep without it and I'm panicking the days that I'm at work as to whether I'll get home in time to put her down if not she cries until I come home :(

Hmm. Is it bottles she doesn't like, or milk itself? If it's the former I would replace with sippy cup, latter you could try something else - maybe milky redbush tea? Our DD likes that.

My DD isn't the biggest fan of milk. She was fed to sleep until she was 1. I then started cutting down the amount of time she was fed for and she learned to fall asleep. We probably used a bit of CC as well (we used it for night wake-ups) but you could use a more gentle method if needed.

Once she was feeding for less than 20 minutes I started offering the sippy cup first until eventually I was down to 5 mins, then I cut down by a minute at a time til I stopped.

This may have been madness but it worked for us. There was no science behind it, just what made sense to me!

don't have any useful advice, but wanted to say you aren't alone. my ds is about the same age, and still going. as long as he is wanting bm I struggle to find the energy to wean him off cos it seems mean, but it is tiring and I'd like some non bf time before trying for no 2...

I hope someone comes along with a brilliant plan! I'm just about to try soya milk as it is sweeter and poss more like bm?

By milk I mean cows milk. I didn't want to bother with formula because I am tight

I got pregnant. not really a long term solution though (although I have a friend who is on DC4 who has been BFing or pregnant for years...).

I cut down gradually by reducing the number of feeds each day until just the bed time feed was left (sounds like you've done this).

Then try to break the feed to sleep habit by feeding her but making sure she's awake before she goes to bed.

Then hide at bedtime for the next few days - make sure the rest of the routine is the same. Just not you and no feed.

Don't worry about her not drinking milk / formula. Just make sure she gets lots of yoghurt, cheese and milk on cereal. My dd hasn't drunk milk since I stopped breastfeeding at 15 months.
