BF DDd - 7 weeks - used to ahve 2 sides at every feed. now will only have 1 & thats for about 5 mintues - 10 at the most. she seesm happy in all other respects - so should I be worried?
possibly related - she is now on nystatin for 2nd time for thrush in her mouth which she's had since about 2 weeks old. had dakatrin inbetween which didn't shift it. Dr prescribed canestan for me so perhaps that is affecting her tastebuds?
can you have really bad thrush & not know it?!
gratefull for any advice that willstop me worrying myself into an early grave!

No expert I'm afraid, but babies needs change, she will take what she needs and if she is gaining weight and seems happy, don't worry! Maybe she has just become better at feeding or she is not going through a growth spurt at the moment. My son varied sometimes took one sometimes both, now hardly ever takes both(5 months). You are doing a great job, don't stress!

BB,if she is putting on weight, feeding frequently, producing wet and dirty nappies and seems alert she should be fine.

Have you suffered pain with your thrush?

I'm not sure if it has any bearing on this situation but often it takes adifferent approach to shifting it,namely dosing up with Fluconazole.
(I suffered very badly with both babies but it went like magic with this.)

Have a look in the breastfeeding archives for info on dosing. It should be evident from title of thread.

betty are you washing the canestan off before she feeds? Then reapply it afterwards.
Sometimes if its bad thrush you get kind of shooting pains thru your boobs.
