Problems with powdered milk. Normal?

DS is at nursery. I send as much expressed milk with him as I can, but it is usually one feed short.

He will happily drink premade milk (Aptamil).

Nursery have tried him on powdered Aptamil twice, and both times he has been very sick. Is this normal adjustment? Is the powdered stuff very different grom the premade?

Do I have to bite the £££ bullet and just provide premade milk? Or would it be worth trying other powdered ones?

Feeling clueless, but I cannot express more than I am.

Thank you in advance

For what it's worth I am (fairly) sure they will be making up the feeds correctly.

I've heard anecdotes of this before. I think that the pre made cartons are heat treated in a different way to the powder which makes the milk somewhat easier to digest. It's probably not worth persevering if it's making him really sick as it's only 1 feed a day. Also, at a tenner a tin "trying" different ones out isn't cheap either!!

Quite! An expensive hobby.

Ashamed to admit but we did do it for a bit-DS is mix fed and we changed milk from cow and gate to Aptamil to SMA!!

Nursery prefer to have the mini bottles, so I shall try and find somewhere online I can buy in bulk. I hope it is not the start of food allergies, I was really hoping he would avoid them.

I buy a six pack of sma a week for when we're out and about and they're £4.35 from asda. I'm not sure if it's an allergy thing- hope it isn't too! Babies really aren't cheap are they!!

How old is he? If over a year could you transition to cow's milk?

He is 4mo, so a long wait until cow's milk. (Though the nursery secretary did ask me if they should try him with skimmed milk earlier, which was slightly unnerving!)
