Aversion to bf 17mo when pg with DC2?

DS (17mo) is still feeding morning and night but for the past few days, every time I feed him, it sets my teeth on edge and I want him to finish as quickly as possible.

I had such a painful first month with him that I was hoping to carry on so I may not get those problems with DC2. I'm also worried that if I carry on I'll feel like this about bf DC2 Hmm

I'm 16 weeks pg with DC2 and really don't think I can carry on bf DS. He only feeds for about 2mins on one side in the morning and only seems to do it out of habit at night (he doesn't really 'ask' for it or feed for that long).

I feel torn as to what to do.

Has anyone else been through this?

I got to the stage when I was pg and bfing that I really didn't want to carry on any more - no definable reason behind it, I just didn't want to do it. My LO was younger than yours, 12mo, and I was 6 months pregnant, but it felt like the right time to stop.
My MW warned that second timers often find it hard to get going bfing second time, because you get kind of lazy when you are used to feeding an older baby where you don't have to make really sure you've got the latch right, so I was really conscious of making sure DC2 latched properly, and we had no problems.

I will say though, that as soon as DC2 was born and I was feeding him, I felt an almost overpowering urge to feed DC1 again! I didn't as she'd moved happily on to cows milk by that point, but I sort of wished I'd carried on and tandem fed.

Thanks for the reassurance Lizzie, I don't know why I want to give up either - it just somehow feels wrong. Did you ever try to offer DC1 when DC2 came along?

Did you have any pain when you started bf either of yours?

I'll keep in mind about DC 2s latch too.

No I didn't ever offer her any, she'd been 12 months when we stopped and 15 mo when DC2 was born and I thought she'd probably have completely lost the sucking reflex in that time as she was quite little. It was a really odd feeling though, like I said I'd been more than ready to stop feeding her.
Didn't get any pain from no1, did have a bit of tenderness with no2 - he had a very strong suck! Dd1 used to take a full hour to feed as a baby, DS was over and done with both sides within 15 minutes. They are still the same now with food!
I had a very painful letdown with DS too which I didn't have with DD1 - strange that the experience was so completely different.
