Will try to keep the whole story brief- ds born at 35 weeks at 3lb 3oz. In Scbu 3 weeks tube fed. Failed to establish breastfeeding so expressed for about 6 weeks and has been ff since. Was told in Scbu that he had a slight tongue tie but it wouldn't affect feeding. Went back to gp/hv repeatedly with feeding problems but since he has gained weight pretty well they've not been interested. Finally had tt snipped privately 3 weeks ago. Feeding improved a bit but for the last few days it's been horrendous again- he will not take the bottle at all- flinches away, arches back, turns head etc. I've had to wait til he's ready for a nap and feed him asleep when he'll drink 6-7 oz no problem. He seems so anxious/ stressed about feeding now- almost like a phobia and I'm definitely not helping as I'm also really tense around feeds. Have tried everything- different bottles/ teats, different positions, distracting him, singing, tv and no joy. Doctor suggested calpol . Am totally stuck and it's really getting me down. Any ideas??

Big hug heading your way. Do you have a support network? I'd get Mum, friends, etc. on board. Babies are very susceptible to anxiety from Mum so it might just be a case of getting someone else to feed him. You need a break from this stressful situation, could his Dad take over for a period of time while you get some TLC, just a one hour break from the situation would make you feel better and therefore better equipped to deal with the problem. Colleague's son had a tied tongue and has the best appetite now, I think he was much happier with solids than milk. Good luck.

Oh no, how awful for you :-( I don't have any advice I'm afraid but I'm sure others will be along who can assist. Is it possible the tt can grow back? Hugs x

Thanks for your lovely replies. Yes I've got lots of support and dp does a lot to help when he's not working. I'm really trying not to get stressed about it but its hard when a feed can take 2 hours and by then it's 6 hours since his last feed. He's still only on the 7th centile so just get worried about him getting enough milk over the day. Really hope he takes to solids ok!
Missratty- yes a tt can grow back I believe, going to get him checked out this week.
Also going to see an osteopath- will try anything at this point!
