Is there a limit on how many ounces of formula an 11week old can consume in 24hours?

DD was EBF up until Sunday as she has started refusing the breast and become a lazy feeder! I am now giving her SMA formula and going off the guidelines for her weight she should have 6oz 5 times a day. She is guzzling 6oz(Dr brown number 1 teet) so offering 7oz. She's wanting to feed every 2-3 and therefore I am feeding her more than 5 times as she wakes around 3-4am and is used to feeding from me often. I really don't want her to be come over weight as she's a lovely weight and body shape atm!

I think there's a guideline that says no more than 32oz in 24 hours but that went out the window for us at 11/12weeks due to a big growth spurt.
Have a chat to a HV or GP about it, they may also be able to give you a hand re-establishing bf if you want to.

It's guidelines, not set in stone and not written specifically with your baby in mind.

DS never wanted as much as the guidelines suggested.
Friend's baby, same age, had 8 x 13 oz bottles!

Both are now heathy 5 yo. DS is still a light eater, but huge! (Big, tell, muscular rather than fat).

If your baby is happy and thriving, don't worry about it.

I'm sure when my DS was ff (he's 17months now so not too long ago) that I read somewhere that they can have 2.5oz for every pound they weigh so if they weigh 10 pound they can have 25oz of formula in a day (obviously give or take), but if she's hungry I wouldn't worry, she'll stop when she 's full.

And from babycentre.com How much formula by weight

In the first four to six months when your baby isn't eating any solids, here's a simple rule of thumb: Offer 2.5 ounces of formula per pound of body weight each day.

For example, if your baby weighs 6 pounds, you'll give her about 15 ounces of formula in a 24-hour period. If she weighs 10 pounds, you'll give her about 25 ounces in a 24-hour period.

These numbers are not rigid rules. They give you an overall average for what your baby is likely to require. His daily feedings will vary according to his individual needs – in other words, he may want a bit more on some days and a bit less on others.
