Help! Weaned dd1 (22 months) off a teat 5 days ago - won't drink milk from a sippy cup etc - am now a bit worried!

I know this is something I have left a bit late! DD1 only has 2 bottles of milk a day - first and last thing.

HV advised me to go 'cold turkey' and just stop the bottle teat. She said,dd1 will probably not have any milk for a few days - but I'm a bit worried will she ever?

DD1 only had water in a sippy cup and will not drink milk. I have tried a doidy cup - still won't have any milk.

I am making sure that dd1 is having yogurt and cheese etc - but I'm worried about her not having any milk and that she may not be having enough calcium/fat etc.

Any experiences of something similar - did your lo's eventually drink milk etc.

Thanks for any advice.

when I weaned dd1 off the breast at 14 months, she point blank refused any milk for months, then all of a sudden it became the thing she would crawl over hot coals for, it still is at 6 years old

don't worry, will probably take milk again sooner rather than later. loads of things we eat also have calcium and fat in addition to yoghurt and cheese. Leafy green veg, beans of all varieties, seeds (sesame, sunflower) also juices combined with these things assist the absorption of calcium and iron.

She'll get there hotmama, don't get too worried.

Do you drink milk? if you drink some when you offer her some she may like to copy you.

Luckily, dd2 (27 weeks) is bf - so dd1 won't get jealous of bottles etc. I have not intention of weaning dd2 off teats - she is going to be going stright onto sippy cups!

I'll just persevere with dd1 and offer her milk and not make a big issue/get stressed when she doesn't have any!
