Hello

Can anyone tell me why my let down is becoming more painful?

At first I never even really noticed it happen after a couple of months paid more attention and started to notice it... at first it felt like a little tingles but over the last few weeks it has become and getting more painful. As soon as it happens the pain stops, its not enough to make my toes curl. I dont remember this the first time.

This baby does feed about three times faster than first so could it be because there is some super jaw action going on and I should ignore it or does it mean something is not right?

Hmmmmm, not very up on this, but hate to see a thread unanswered! LL where are you!
Baby doesn't have tongue tie at all? (thinking this may affect latch?) but then it goes, so ?

lovecloud · 20/08/2006 22:43

she does sometimes make a slapping noise... cant explain it, like air is getting in but the latch looks perfect and even went to a baby cafe for a councellor to check.

dont think she's tonguetied, guess i would of noticed this before or maybe not.

My let downs can be pretty sore as well. Sometimes it feels like someone is pinching my nipples really hard. But i've just kind of gotten used to it.

I have breastfed for 10 mths & I too do not remember feeling a letdown at the start & now feel it very much- I would call it like a cramping pain but within about 10 seconds of getting it it passes- ots normal-well it is for me anyway & i remember reading it was too- its just your body getting so used to your babys suck & so you now have a very powerfull letdown-
this will make you laugh....... my little one once skipped a feed- & my boobs were fir to burst- the pump couldnt get my letdown- so I asked my hubby !!! ha ha- he was there for 20 minuted trying to latch on & get the milk going- no way- not a drop- but then little one got up & within 10 seconds of latching on- the milk came - your body just gets so fine tuned to your indivudal baby & thats when I really began to get a strong pain like letdown-

hope this helps

how old is your baby? I think I started to feel this letdown at around 3- 4 mths- before ths is was just a warm slight tingling-

yep- thats how my sister used to describe hers- she used to say it was like an orgasm in her boob! ha ha ha
Its just a sure sign that you are getting good milk flow I think. as long as you have baby weighed every week & hes gaining then you have no worries

good luck

Hi lovecloud

Breastfeeding mums sometimes get thrush in their breasts. I've never had this but was told that it can be very painful, although easy to reslove. Just looking into it and found this PDF about nipple pain. Maybe it can help.

Things like this can usually be resolved with a bit of help or info so try not to worry.
