Total elimination diet for reflux baby

Has anyone tried the total elimination diet for reflux baby if breastfeeding? My little man is 6wks old and I think suffering from silent reflux. Today has been awful and I am clutching at straws. I have his 6 week check appointment with the doctor on Wednesday and I am going to insist on some medication as he has been so unsettled and in pain today, it's horrendous.

In the meantime, I'm looking to see what else can be done and have come across this diet which seems to have some success with refluxy babies however it is v restricting so I would love to hear people's experiences.

Thanks

We haven't, as ranitidine has helped our LO. I would just advise that you discuss changes to your diet with your GP, as cutting out foods (e,g, dairy) needs to be done under supervision and with supplements, as calcium stores are already depleted during BF and you put yourself at high risk of bone disorders.

I've been advised to cut all dairy, as that's the most common trigger. If that doesn't help then a rethink will be called for.

I've already had to cut sugar and basic starches, due to chronic thrush in the baby's mouth and my boobs, so I couldn't do the total elim diet anyway, after googling. But I'm hoping the dairy cutting works on the colic front (not yet convinced it isn't the high doses of fluconazole they tried unsuccessfully against the thrush, either).

I eliminate dairy and soy for DS and have done for two years. You do need to be strict with it to see a difference.

Kellymom have some good info on it.

Cut out dairy, soya and citrus based fruits (including tomatoes).

Oops, mine seemed to be sensitive to soy.
But also parsnips and garlic too, but only really very garlicky things.
Its a lot easier to cut out the soya from DD diet than it was mine (now i stopped bf.) as i like biscuits and chocolate and ice cream so much but have just not really given them to her
