Metoclopramide to boost supply

Has anyone got any experience of this using metoclopramide to boost their supply of breastmilk? I'm going to ask gp for some but wonder how effective it will be? I don't want to post my longwinded circumstances again for fear of boring the pants off you all but suffice to say I am mix feeding and my supply doesn't seem to be keeping up with dd's needs no matter how much time she spends at the breast.

We changed from Metoclopramide to Domperidone (Motilium). The dose our hospital uses is 10mg 3 times a day. You can buy it over the counter but should be able to get a prescription.

It will boost supply as long and you are feeding/expressing 3 hourly at least.

She sleeps for longer periods at night, 5-7 hours, but during the day she feeds really frequently. Appointment for 10.20.
How quickly should I see an effect?

Usually 2-3 days.

I've used domperidone 20mg three times a day recently. Worked a treat.

domperidone does work, I used it. it about doubled my puny breast milk, which was great. it's actually an anti sea-sickness drug - confused the living daylights out of my pharmacist, kept asking me if i was a sailor.

I was allergic to metachlopromide (sp?). Paralyzed my face muscles and one arm temporarily. Bear in mind as apparently it's not so very unusual.

I've started domperidone 20mg three times a day. I found some more info on it on a breasfeeding website. Lucky I did too as the GP hadn't heard of it being used to increase breastmilk production. I must have been convincing though as she happily agreed to prescribe it. Fingers crossed that it does the trick. I don't mind mix feeding in that I'm not adamantly against formula and I quite like knowing that she will take milk from a bottle if she needs a feed and I'm not with her but I am keen that she continues to get at least some breastmilk.
