How to discipline whilst feeding.

Dd is 12 months and has been ebf. She has started to pull off during a feed and tries to grab/pinch my nipples and breasts. She also bites, and with 4 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth it bloody hurts!

Every time she starts messing I move my breast away or place a hand over my nipple and say 'no' in a stern voice but it's not working. Me doing that makes her giddy and laughing and more likely to carry on.

Eventually she stops and starts feeding properly. I'm hoping it's just a phase but is there anything else I should be doing when a firm no doesn't have any effect?

I would probably stop BF tbh. It appears to be less about food and more of a game for her.

Not very helpful sorry OP.

Have you tried taking her off completely and putting her down/putting your boob away? My dd was a biter, went on for months, I did try this although it didn't particularly work for me, it might for you though

I think all babies go through this at various stages, I found this article helpful. I think what you are doing is probably right, also I found my son mucked around or bit me if he didn't really want the milk, eg if I was feeding him just to see if that was why he was crying, rather than when I was confident he was hungry/needed the comfort of milk. So perhaps wait until your girl is really hungry or 'asks' for the feed. Hopefully it's just a phase!

My son was like this and I just gave up feeding at that point. He was about 9 months.

Thanks everyone. I will keep persevering. It's not every feed which is good. I only feed about 4 times a day to get her to sleep. Rod, meet back!

That's good, really don't worry about Rods - it's a myth!
